Pune kids

Yesterday's PT has this great article on why 'Pune kids are finding more slots on TV than Mumbai actors'. Now, the premise of the article is not that bad, but the article itself is hopeless.

The reporter jots down a few points to tells us why Pune actors strike gold:
1. Fresh and bubbly faces
2. Identifiable looks
3. Theatre background
4. Don't charge hefty fees

Yes, thats right, ONLY Pune 'kids' have these qualities. It is ridiculous to publish such bullshit in the name of reporting. Talking about the theatre background of these personalities, I don't think any of them are from the theatre world.

This article was not an aberration. Everyday, there has to be a mindnumbingly stupid article on the trends in Bollywood, gossip stories on page 1. Aaargh!

I think its worse when the Pune Times actually tries to put in something about people from Pune because this is what the articles are really like. It looks like someone was compelled to write something about Pune actors without being able to do any research.

The article also had a photo caption: '"Pune has a lot of pretty faces." quips Sampada Vaze'

Quips? Aren't their own comic strips funnier or the staff themselves don't get the jokes? Or are they planning a Quip India Movement? ;-)

i agree. a waste of trees. if the pune times is anything like the bombay edition, i sympathise completely. the latter has been created by morons, for morons. the editors are largely illiterate (if they are literate, they hide it very well), the writing is so bad that it consistently raises doubts, in me, about the quality of indian education, and the articles, when they do appear between advertisements, only endorse other pathetic times of india products. when that building burns, i'm going to throw a party. if it burns with the times' journalists inside, i'll extend that party for a week.
